Information for Buyers

Buyer Registration

Once you have decided you would like to bid for an item/s, please register your details at our reception desk. You will be allocated a personal buyer number which will allow the auctioneer to secure your bid. If you find you want to buy regularly, we can also register you as a regular customer which provides a personal number you keep and also avoids the need to register each week.

Buyer Premium

A premium of 14.5% is payable on the ‘hammer price’. Charge inclusive of VAT.

VAT – Value Added Tax *
Some items are subject to VAT. These can be identified by the addition of an asterisk * next to the catalogue description. VAT will be charged on the ‘hammer price’. Any VAT charges will be detailed on your invoice accordingly.

Bidding

In Person

When the auctioneer reaches the lot you wish to bid for simply ensure he can see you and continue to bid. On securing a bid, inform the auctioneer of your personal buyer number.

In Writing

We are happy to accept a written bid either by post or e-mail provided it is with us at least 30 minutes prior to the sale starting. Once verified by reception our Auctioneer will action your bid with integrity, but without responsibility, within the bidding arena. Should another bidder match your highest bid, the Auctioneer will place one further bid on your behalf. If you are successful with your bid, we will contact you to arrange collection and take payment. This service is free of charge.

By Phone

On occasion, depending on the lots offered, we are also happy to establish telephone bidding. Please contact our reception desk to arrange this service. You will then be contacted shortly before your lot is due for auction and connected with someone who without responsibility, actions your bids for you.

Payment

We request payment for all purchases on the day of sale by either cash, cheque or credit/debit card. For security purposes we may have to limit large amounts of cash. Cheques must be accompanied by a card which supports the limit required. For larger amounts not covered by a card limit, we reserve the right to await cheque clearance prior to releasing any goods. All authorised credit card transactions are subject to a 2.0% surcharge on the total amount.
